Located on the North Dominican Republic Atlantic Ocean Coastline, 11 mi/18 km E of Puerto Plata. The beach of Sosúa offers a kilometer long beach of white sand, a bay of crystal waters and coral reef heads, the best scuba dive area and aquatic activities on the north coast.. Although 5,000 visas were issued, only 700 persons actually settled or passed through Sosua by 1947, and only ½ in agricultural. About 20 families still remain. In Sosúa, you can still find a few of the lovely handcrafted houses built by Jewish settlers in the 1940s.
